7 Khoon Maaf - Releasing on Feb 18th

Bollywood’s maverick film director Vishal Bharadwaj,, best known for his penchant to adapt Shakesperean stories and plays, now trains his eyes on Ruskin Bond’s short story “Susanna’s Seven Husbands”. An interesting plot line where the heroine Susanna, an Anglo Indian, kills off her seven husbands during the course of her life – more precisely, from age 20-65. Saat Khoon Maaf movie is yet another feather in the talented Priyanka Chopra’s repertoire. After Ashutosh Gowarikar’s ‘What’s your rashee?” where she plays seven different girls very competently, here she plays in Saat Khoon Maaf film seven different ages of the same person, Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes. What next Priyanka?

If the director, the writer and the lead actor have not hooked you yet, here is the list of the husbands that she kills off in Saat Khoon Maaf. Naseeruddin Shah plays the oldest husband Dr. Madhusudhon Tarafdhar, Neil Nitin mukesh plays Major Edwin Rogrigues, John Abraham plays Jimmy Stetson, Irrfan Khan plays Wasiullah Khan, Annu Kapoor plays Keemat Lal, Alaexandr Dyachenko plays Nicolai Vronsky and Vivaan Shah (Naseer’s real life son) plays Arun. Usha Uthup plays the maid, Ruskin Bond and Konkona put in guest appearances.

Vishal Bharadwaj excels at this kind of story telling – violent with a tinge of black humour. And with such a talented cast of stars, 7 Khoon Maaf is a movie that cannot be missed by any movie buff. As an interesting aside, Priyanka Chopra has had her make up for the 65 year old done by the well known make up effects artist Greg Cannom, known for his work in ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. The music of Saat Khoon Maaf is by Vishal Bharadwaj and lyrics are by Gulzar. The song ‘Darling’ in 7 Khoon Maaf is already a chartbuster.
